Unit 9 - Hands

Sisterhood
Watercolour, Pen + Ink, Coloured Pencils
76 x 57 cm
July 2016
“Sisterhood” is a piece about women in society. Henna tattoos are a symbol of celebration and fertility (being a woman). With the array of hands holding on and supporting each other, it symbolizes how growing up as a girl, we always have the love and support of women in our lives. They all affect us and guide us in becoming a woman. Everyone has a henna tattoo as we are either guiding or being guided. It also reminds us that although everyone is different, we should all support each other.
